Most often Lithuanians become united only when they face danger or great misfortune. It is not easy to inspire us all together to feel united.

Nevertheless, miracles sometimes happen – let’s say when our National Basketball team wins an important victory, or an outstanding Lithuanian artist is awarded a prize during international competitions. In such cases we all remember who we really are and what we can be proud of.

I believe that creation of the “The Road of Freedom” will become one such miracle and that this work will be conducive to the enhancement of our solidarity. I am glad that Lithuania has creative artists such as Tadas Gutauskas, who are able to devote their energy even in these most difficult times for works which are important for all of us.
